and Workshops.
To North Americans the loon is a symbol of wilderness and solitude. It's stunning beauty has made it one of the most sought after birds to photograph.
What makes this trip so special.
The very stable one of a kind 19 foot boat is specifically laid out for Loon photography. New for 2012... 2 of the 4 comfortable swivel seats are designed to drop down to allow extreme low angle photography; just a mere 14 inches from lens to the surface of the water. The boat has a flat floor and a removable top for protection from the rain, as well as an outboard motor that will get us to our destination quickly. When we arrive a silent electric motor gets us in close to the loons & offers you up close photo opportunities.
Michael monitors 11 pairs of nesting loons on 9 different lakes. This has made it possible to offer photographers a 100% loon chick success rate since 1997.
Your guide and instructor is on the boat with you, offering helpful tips, answering questions and explaining what to expect next. As a result, you have the very best chances to capture some of the finest loon images.
No middle man, boat drivers, etc.. to pay for, thus offering a much more affordable trip.
Itinerary: We will be on the water for the early morning light. Breakfast will be served on board the boat, and by mid-morning we will return in order to rest. Some of you may decide to try your luck at photographing Algonquin's moose or spruce grouse. Algonquin has many fantastic landscape opportunities as well. We will all meet later in the afternoon for the evening light and more loon photography.
Private Loon Workshops
If the scheduled tours or dates do not work for you, book your own private trip, and invite as many as 4 people to spend a day on the water photographing wild loons in their natural habitat.
